Information Available

I've discovered a great site for any one who is interested in putting together a long distance bike trip. It's not totally complete, but it's a great source for much of the information you'll need.

www.biketrip.org

As for me, I'm starting to search for information on putting this trip together, and I've found that there are two key components:

1. Have a good map and understanding of where you are going. Avoid the main roads. This one will be essential for me as I'm not really the best with directions. But this will be a learning experience, and maybe I'll come back with a newfound internal compass that will shock the socks off everyone I know.

2. Get in shape! Ok, no one SAYS this part specifically, but I think that it can only help, right? So I'm starting to increase the miles that I ride on my bike. A typical ride is to Lyons from Boulder (about 26 miles roundtrip), a longer ride is to Jamestown (30 miles), Ward (50 miles) or Carter Lake (65 miles). I'm going to ride the Carter Lake route this Saturday. The weather looks beautiful, and I can pretend that I'm heading to Mexico! Wish me the best of luck.
